Why it’s a great time to be in the juice bar industry
Our expansion is driven by more demand than ever for healthier meal and snack options
Juice It Up! was a believer in the power of juicing long before it became mainstream. We started our smoothie and juice business in Orange County, CA, a place known for its healthy lifestyle obsession. Twenty years later, we’re gratified to see that the rest of the country has come fully on board with seeking a healthier future. The juice bar industry has never been more robust, and we’re excited about what this means for the future of our brand.
Why demand for juices & smoothies is rising
As we’ve hit an all-time unhealthy high as a nation, people are interested in figuring out how to live healthier lifestyles. Many people go all-in while others seek a balance. We see a mix of entry level health seekers looking for better-for-you options, as well as hard core juice enthusiasts in our stores.
Juicing incorporates vegetables and fruits in a way that provides optimal nutrition with satisfying taste. Smoothies and smoothie bowls, with their options for add-ons as well as add-ins, can be anything from a downright decadent healthy treat to a nutritionally dense meal replacement. We offer our guests choices and control over their nutrition and whatever they want to feed their bodies with. We do that in a way we can feel good about.
Experts don’t see a dip in demand coming anytime soon. We predict juices and smoothies are here to stay, and we want to partner with entrepreneurs, investors and anyone with a dream of living a healthy lifestyle to join us in our quest to expand the Juice It Up! brand across the country.
A look at those juice industry stats
We’re operating in an industry that generates $9 billion worldwide, $2.2 billion of that in the U.S. alone. Industry experts predict it’s growing at a rate of about 7% a year. Technomic, a research firm, said in its 2016 Healthy Eating Consumer Trend Report that consumers now define healthy food as being antioxidant-rich, helpful for boosting their immune systems and providing health benefits that could be considered not just physical, but also spiritual and mental.
Technomic reported that in the past five years, there’s been a 115% increase in the use of the word “healthy” on restaurant menus in general, which gives us a good idea of how important health benefits have become. In addition, Technomic said, 40% of consumers said they were more likely to order from a place where healthy options were served.
Why Juice It Up! is here to stay
We’re there for all. More and more people want healthy, convenient options, and Juice It Up! provides those in ways that suit the 10-mile-a-day runner, the vegan yoga practitioner, the pizza-loving blogger who seeks balance and the parents who want to introduce their children to healthy lifestyle habits.
You’ll see just as much diversity in our franchise owners. Did you think you had to be a vegan to run a juice bar? Or a power-lifter? Or a fitness coach? Some of our franchisees have those backgrounds, but others come from corporate cubicle farms, struggle with their weight and, yes, indulge in the occasional cheeseburger and fries.
What they share in common, though, is a dream to be an entrepreneur with purpose. They are passionate about striving to be healthier, and finding a way to help their communities be healthier, too. Juice It Up! offers those opportunities in a culture of support, teamwork and a track record of success.
We started our juice and smoothie franchise company in 1995. We now have close to 100 locations, and we’re talking to interested franchise buyers every day. We’ve never seen the juicing industry as strong as it is today, and we would love to hear from you if you share our vision for a healthy, prosperous future.
