4 reasons we’re excited about 2019
We’re increasing efficiencies while delivering an even stronger brand for both franchisees and customers
Juice It Up! worked throughout 2018 on something very important: 2019. Last year was about laying a strong foundation for the exciting developments we’re planning this year. Here’s a look at the innovations that will drive results in 2019 and beyond.
We unveiled the first store with our new look in Tustin Ranch, CA, in mid-December. The redesign not only improves the customer experience, it also ramps up back-of-house efficiencies to smooth out operations for our franchisees. The new layout includes banquet seating, high-top tables and better merchandising to highlight a more functional line of snacks such as protein muffins and hard-boiled eggs. We’ve added a reach-in cooler by the point-of-sale system to improve sales of bottled juices, cold brew coffee, organic energy drinks, bottled waters and other refrigerated snack items.
Softer colors, more wood and polished stainless counters throughout give our franchise locations a more natural feel, which is in keeping with our brand identity.
“More importantly, we’re actually able to take and utilize this footprint in little as 850 square feet,” says Juice It Up! CEO Chris Braun. “That allows us to be more flexible in the kinds of locations franchisees can lease. And the benefit for existing franchisees is that the remodeling costs are lower.”
New bowl bar
One of the biggest highlights of the updated store design is the addition of a bowl bar, which showcases all the fresh fruit and toppings guests can choose to customize their order. As smoothie, juice and bowl franchises continue to grow, Juice It Up! is committed to remaining ahead of the curve. We remain committed to increasing demand for the superfoods, incorporating them into many of our delicious products.
A ‘Toast’ to our new POS system
Juice It Up! franchisees have more exciting developments to look forward to as we roll out a new point of sale system by Q2. Toast, a leader in restaurant POS technology, will be fully integrated with our mobile app and online ordering.
“We’ll have the point of sale system implemented across every location, coupled with a Level Up mobile app platform that enables online the ordering and delivery capabilities of Olo,” Braun says. “This will allow franchisees to take orders directly from the web, from the mobile app and from delivery companies like DoorDash, Grubhub and Uber Eats and have the order processed directly in through the point of sale platform.
“There are no side readers or additional hardware. The Juice It Up! app is fully integrated to provide a seamless ease-of-ordering system from both a consumer standpoint and for the franchisees.”
Renewed marketing efforts
We have many new developments coming in the year ahead, and one we’re especially excited about is the change to our brand storytelling. Our new approach integrates multiple social media platforms to share benefits of the Juice It Up! products from the consumer’s perspective.
“We’ll be talking about not just our products but their benefits,” says Milena Rimassa, Director of Marketing. “For instance, how they relate to body builders, to pregnant women, to people getting into shape and just how special products relate to general health.”
Our efforts to increase brand marketing by increasing engagement on a more personal level will help franchisees draw more guests into stores.
“We’re reaching out to schools, to civic organizations, to non-profits within our service areas and really, really engaging, actually doing the initial groundwork and meeting these people, building these relationships to help ensure franchisee success,” Rimassa says.
